Open Air ConcertsYou may be lucky when visiting Selcuk to see a concert or festival in the Great Theatre of Ephesus. In the past Sting, Elton John, and Diana Ross -to name a few- have preformed here. There are classical concerts and dance festivals as well.

Independence Festival of SelçukOn September 8th, 1922 Selçuk was liberated from its enemies. This date is celebrated yearly in throughout the town.

Camel WrestlingThis festival, unique to this region, is performed yearly on the third weekend of January in Selçuk. On the day preceding the fights, the camels are paraded for the public.
Smaller Camel Wrestling festivals are held throughout the region in December and January.

International Izmir FestivalDuring the International Izmir Festival several performances are held in Ephesus.

Christian pilgrimages and services
There is a special pilgrimage every August 15th
to Maryemana, the house of the Virgin Mary on a
mountain overlooking Ephesus.
There are also services there on Sunday mornings in
various languages, and some times during the week
when special groups visit.
